Championing the wonders of translated fiction, one review at a time. Slightly older and more haggard than the photos suggest. Bitter at most things, really.

WINNER of the Dublin Literary Award!!! π€Congratulations, Mircea and Sean! Thank you to the judges for selecting it, to the Cluj county library in Romania for nominating it, to Dublin UNESCO & Dublin City libraries for presenting the award.
Congratulations to Mircea CΔrtΔrescu, and translator Sean Cotter on winning the 2024 #DublinLiteraryAward . βSolenoidβ is wild, strange, by times lyrical and surreal. A brave and worthy winner. Dublin Literary Award Deep Vellum
Thanks so much to all the early readers, booksellers, bloggers, writers, podcasters, tweeters for the support for Ghost Mountain. Incredible to see it going to reprint the day before its official launch.
And a huge thanks to the phenomenal Bluemoose Books
I'm so grateful π
Such a fun night and an amazing first-time visit to London! Congratulations to Jenny Erpenbeck, Michael Hofmann, and Granta Books!
I'll be making my first trip of the year to Dublin tomorrow to attend the announcement of the Dublin Literary Award and the launch of Mumblin' Deaf Ro's new novel 'Ghost Mountain', pub. by Bluemoose Books.
Very much looking forward to both.
π«‘π«π·π So grateful my Deep Vellum & Deep Vellum Books colleagues attended last night, none of this is possible without a true Herculean team effort. And the whole joy of bringing French & francophone literature to readers is made possible through incredible literary translators π
Interesting to listen to Sayaka Murata at International Literature Festival Dublin Her writing often includes extreme/grotesque elements & humour. She sees her writing as a fish tank for conducting experiments.
Very respectful and appreciative of her translators.
Large, enthusiastic crowd. Great to see.
Congratulations to Jenny Erpenbeck and Michael Hofmann Granta Books on winning the International Booker Prize 24 with Kairos, such a powerful account of the last days of East Germany: peakreads.wordpress.com/2023/11/03/kaiβ¦
