Thank you so much to all those residents of #Coquitlam who attended the public hearing tonight. Your passion for civic engagement is inspiring. It was a late night, but you hung in there. Stay engaged, stay involved, and stay passionate for your neighbourhoods and your city.

As an adult, coaching in youth sport is about giving kids the opportunity for: participation, engagement, personal & physical development, exercise & the chance to develop social values. ✳️All of that has far more value to them in the real world than solely trying to win✳️

Parents, please stop screaming ‘SHOOT IT!’ 1. Shooting should be a decision, not a reaction 🏀 2. Instructions should only come from the coach 🗣 3. Children can only process a limited amount of info at a time 🤪 4. You are undermining their ability to make decisions 🤦🏼‍♂️

As adults/coaches/clubs we should ONLY measure ‘our’ success in youth sport by the number of kids returning the next week/season. Not simply by measuring performance or results. #Opportunity #Participation #Retention #AllAboutTheIndividual

Tough loss for our senior girls this morning. Great season considering all of the injuries. Special thanks to the grade 12s. As always you represented HWSS well! #Kodiakpride

Kids do NOT care about bad referees unless the adults do. Period. If the adults (coaches/parents) focus on the refs, then the kids will too. Whining, complaining and blaming referees is something weak minded people do. Referees, good or bad, are just part of the game.

In youth sport we mustn’t solely focus on the <1% of young players who ‘might' make it at the cost of the >99% who could become lifelong participants. It’s about fun, learning, enjoyment, socialising, engagement, legacy & the development of EVERY child regardless of their ability
