Mina Edison founded 12 garden clubs in Fort Myers in order to better organize the beautification of the once cattle town into a modern city

Mina Edison was a life long proponent of literary and using the principles of the Chautauqua Institute in New York, she held literacy classes for the children of the Dunbar neighborhood of Fort Myers

In 1938, Mina Edison hosted an ice cream social to save the old oak tree in front of the Fort Myers Court House. Using the event’s popularity, she passed out petitions urging the City to reduce the risk of forrest fires
