Well, that'll do nicely, thank you very much Zabien Brown. Big-time miscommunication between Mateer at the split end; Mateer was expecting a hook to the sideline, and that's what he got ... from Brown. 17-17

2nd Q obs: It's why we never say "it's over" too soon, right? Great comeback from Alabama with its season in direct peril. Great improvement in D in Q2. Mateer's clock sped up and he didn't respond very well. Got to keep momentum through the half, but OU looked a bit shook late.

Also, while I have a second ... that was total overreaction from the side judge right there at the half. Coach may have not even been in the white. Then the flag gets thrown like he was trying to mark the landing area for D.B. Cooper. Crap call in a playoff game.

Shows you right there what can happen when you can keep the front seven out of a QB's face. Simpson stepped into the throw and delivered a perfect strike to Brooks and now Bama has the lead in a game where they looked left for dead. 24-17 UA

Huge points from Talty there. This is the point of the game where you start trying to find the "safe" number for your team. "Safe" tonight feels like 34. Could be less, but pretty sure 34 does it. 27-17 UA

3rd Q obs: About as good a quarter as you could expect from Bama. OU seems to be trying to run the Jackson Arnold playbook right now and Mateer is taking abuse. Run defense has tightened by several powers of ten since Q1. VanDeMark at LG has helped on O.

Hope that was the one bad drive we seem to see every now and then, the Q4 portion of it anyway. Not sure about the flag on Hubbard on the play before but you can't bust on a WR in the middle of the field like that on the TD play. 27-24

I know they like to use Roberts at RG because of the run blocking, but that forces Formby to RT and also there are going to be busts on pass pro like what we just saw. Not sure it isn't a better idea to just ride Formby at RG and Carroll at RT the rest of the way in.

Huge, huge and huge. Also want to point out Bama has Cuevas and Lewis on the field together at TE for the first time since ... Missouri? Lewis makes a big difference in the run game and isn't a bad receiver. Oh, to have had him in the first UA-OU game. 34-24

When Bama can play rabbit front with Keeley and Collins in at the same time (another guy who was hurt for SECCG), it's a handful. Collins got his man turned around on a twist and now Mateer is starting to feel what Simpson felt all Q1.

This is going in the books as one of the strangest endings I've ever seen in a college football game. Total meltdown from OU special teams tonight. Just unreal. Un. Real.

Ballgame. Bama advances to face Indiana, and hopefully gets the OU curse off its back for awhile at the same time. Recap soon.
