I had a theory that they left Ash's journey open-ended because they wanted to continue his journeys in the yearly films they'd release, but there hasn't been a Pokémon movie since. I think that'd be a cool idea... if you're not going to give an actual conclusion.

It used to bug me how so many people would say "two thousand and ten" instead of "twenty ten". Imagine if people went around today saying "two thousand and twenty-five" to describe the current year. Ugh.
