Just learned of a tweak to WTA rules I haven't seen discussed: WTA copied ATP, reserving a spot (or even two) in WTA Finals for a Slam champ who wouldn't otherwise qualify. In 2024, pending US Open results, that means Krejcikova leapfrogs Collins or Zheng for the eighth spot.

4 everyone that insists that all players know whether they got a ball before a double bounce or not, why did Meddy just challenge that call? They often don’t know.

“You are the best player in the world man, you should know it” 🥹 My absolute favourite moment from this event so far. Cobolli tentatively walking up to Carlos, Carlos noticing him and making him feel seen and heard. Both of them are such sweethearts.

Muchova (World No. 49) could become the lowest ranked player to reach the final at the China Open since the tournament’s inception in 2004 - the current lowest is Maria Kirilenko in 2005 (#45). Feels like Karolina belongs in the Top 5 right now, no?

Sabalenka on what getting to No.1 again would mean to her 🤣 "It's good to be in the top of the draw. You don't have to scroll all the way down to see your opponent. You just open and you're there."

I feel like it's hard to differentiate who was the best competitor among the Big 3. They each had their own "way." But there was something about Nadal's relentless belief. The outward presentation of the never-say-die mentality, that will always stick with me. The GUSTO.

Maybe in the end, never taking a single point off will be Nadal's greatest achievement, more than the 14 RG titles and the 23 wins over No.1s and the 81-match win streak on clay. The mentality was the springboard. The mentality teaches the future generations. It's everything.
