s126 - SENSITIVITY - NUCLEAR (i) OCC of A$7,200/kW does not result in nuclear. (ii) OCC of 30% lower at A$5,200/kW and if RE build rate constrained then nuclear features at ~100TWh/y, i.e. about 12GW to 13GW. Am awaiting nuclear supporters peer review of this outcome. /83

The first blades for Vineyard Wind, America’s first commercial scale #offshorewind project, arrived today in the Port of #NewBedford. Yes, that’s how big they are.

Island-eye view of Vineyard Wind construction projects. New marine terminal, next to local oil+gasoline distributor. Workforce housing (I think?) under construction across the street, looks like it will be resilient to sea-level rise, ha

Jonathan Blow Not sure about "best", but shachaf.net/papers/ has a list of papers I've saved because they were interesting, including year information -- most of them are older than the past couple of years, but the recent ones might be relevant.

HAPPY ATB DAY! What is ATB Day, you ask? Well, it's the most magical time of the year for energy geeks. The National Renewable Energy Lab publishes the Annual Technology Baseline (ATB) every year covering a whole bevy of generation technologies. Let's take a look! 🧵 #ATBday

PureCycle Technologies has now produced virgin-quality polypropylene pellets from its first commercial-scale recycling plant. Polypropylene is used to make food and soap containers, carpet, etc and is versatile but (until now) not readily recyclable. sustainableplastics.com/news/purecycle…

When someone tells me they "hate" getting kicked in the testicles, I ask them "when was the last time you spent 10+ minutes having someone boot you in the nuts?" The answer is basically always "never"

Last fall I visited Helsinki, a city where crash deaths have fallen sharply (including a year without any ped/cyclist fatalities at all). I asked an urban official what role technology has played in his city's safety success. His answer: "Zero. We simply slowed down cars."

Allison Clements I build on recent @Jacob_Mays IEEE paper, which makes compelling case that most US interconnection (“IX”) processes are internally inconsistent & violate basic principles of efficient markets. Problem starts w/ insufficient consideration of redispatch & curtailment: (5/14)
