JUST NOW: NOAA issues G4 geomagnetic storm watch. This has not been issued since the 2024 May event. The last time a G4 watch was issued before this May was in 2004. We may see a historic and noteworthy geomagnetic storm this week. Aurora chasers: prepare!

The NOAA ENLIL model agrees nearly 1:1 with the NASA M2M model for an impact around 2024-10-10 (tomorrow) at 14 UT. SWPC has released a G4 (Kp 8) geomagnetic storm watch. This is only the second time such a watch has been issued since 2005. The last time was in May.
