Doctors at Glenfield Hospital have become the first in the UK to implant the latest generation Micra AV leadless pacemaker. Consultant cardiologist, Dr Somani, implanted the miniature device through a leg vein directly to the patient's heart in a day case procedure last month.

#OTD 11 Sept 1771, The #LeicesterInfirmary opened to a cost of £15,000. Not equipped with its own water supply, it had to be obtained from a local brewery. Rather ghoulishly it overlooked the public hangings & patients would watch the executions from their windows.

600,000 outpatient appts & 100,000 day cases per year would be moved from the LRI to create space for these exciting developments & reduce traffic. These would be done remotely where appropriate, in the community or at the new Glenfield Treatment Centre. #BetterHospitalsLeicester

We are appealing for witnesses after a fatal collision on the A47 in #Leicestershire. The collision happened at around 6.50am this morning close to #Billesdon and involved two vehicles, a blue Mazda 3 and a white HGV. A woman, in her 40s, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
