It was fascinating speaking just now with Jan Stonyhurst Collections to hear how forensic work & physical objects & archives come together in investigating #JesuitRelics for #RelicExhibition! We can't wait to hear conclusions. 🤓🔍🔬🦴

Happy #Lancashire Day! Sir Richard Shireburn (builder of Stonyhurst Hall) was 'knight of the shire' for the county at the Parliament of 1553, and MP for Preston and Liverpool in the 1550s. This unattributed portrait of him aged 54 is dated 1576. #iflookscouldkill #beardgoals

Think teenager slang is a modern thing? Think again! This is taken from a dialogue c1806 between 4 Stonyhurst pupils (named Mr ‘A’, B, C and D). Apparently this was a good distraction from the ‘insipid’ Xenophon they’d been given #teenagersneverchange #theypreferredCicero

This print #FromTheArchives, by Guillaume Lorrain Montbard, shows our #SchoolBuildings at St Omers c1689. Facilities were among the best at any school in Europe and included libraries, theatres, chapels, music rooms, apothecary, and even a #slightlysubversive printing press!
