The best antidote to crime is a good job. Our Youth deserve to live in communities with a bounty of opportunities instead of overwhelming poverty & violence. Over the past year, I’ve engaged thousands of youth across the city. We have heard firsthand about their struggles. 2/3

Yesterday, on Remembrance Day I had the honour of laying a wreath on behalf of the “Youth of Toronto” as well as recite the poem “Commitment to Remember” in both French and English at the City of Toronto 🇨🇦 service. It is always a humbling experience. #LestWeForget #CanadaRemembers

We’re calling on Mayor Chow and ALL levels of government to invest in this crucial initiative. The campaign brings together voices from every ward, including youth from equity-deserving communities, Toronto Community Housing youth and those experiencing homelessness or at risk of violence.

Young people deserve meaningful and gainful employment opportunities that will provide mentorship, skill development, and pathways to economic security. It’s why we have been calling for the creation of a Toronto Youth Employment Program amongst other key priorities.

Happy #BlackHistoryMonth. Today and everyday we celebrate and reflect on the accomplishments that Black Canadians have made and continue to make across the country. Together, let’s keep building a society where everyone has the equivalent opportunity to succeed and thrive.

ICYMI: YOUth deserve better! TYC is extremely disappointed with Mayor Olivia Chow 🇨🇦 2025 budget It ignores calls for critical investments in employment, violence prevention, & community support but also guarantees the continuation, & worsening, of socioeconomic conditions for youth

Her budget failed to deliver on key priorities, the most significant being youth employment. The City of Toronto must do better if it truly cares about fostering safer communities and providing equitable opportunities for its youth. #TOYouth

1 in 8 deputants at the City Budget Consultations were youth. 1 in 7 participants engaged in the City’s Pre-Budget Consultation were youth. TYC is disappointed that the Budget only provides an additional 8 jobs for youth. This will not lead to a safer & more prosperous Toronto.
