Join us in Leiden for this exciting meeting on "Drug Discovery and Global Health" organized by LED3 hub (inactive account) and LUCID. Free registration is required.

The year officially opens at our Science Faculty Leiden Science. Great to hear our dean Jasper Knoester talk about the highlights of the last year, about the plans for the next, about the power of connections and about the six themes, including LED3 hub (inactive account), as an important priority.

The LED3 hub (inactive account) is very excited to be a key part of the research theme "Drug Disovery and Development" that was together with the other 5 research themes highlighted by our dean Jasper Knoester as an important priority for the faculty Leiden Science at the New Year Reception.

Great Tuesday Talk by Mario van der Stelt at the New Year's Reception of the Faculty of Science LeidenScience ENG. He talked about his research in the context of the LED3 hub (inactive account) on (endo)cannabinoids and their functions in the brain. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.10…

LED3 hub member Mario van der Stelt represented our network with a great Tuesday Talk at the New Year's Reception of our Faculty of Science Leiden Science. He talked about his research into better understanding the human brain on the example of endocannabinoid signalling.

Great to see the 3 final nominees for the "Teacher of the Year Award" of our Faculty Leiden Science, Joost Willemse (IBL), Sander van Kasteren (LIC) and Rob van Wijk (LACDR), being recognized at the New Year's Reception. Huge caongratulations to Rob van Wijk on winning the award!

Exciting paper by the groups of Ronald Micura and Alexandra Lusser in Nature Chemical Biology. Covalent binders to structured RNA based on alkyl halides and alkyl mesylates show engagement of the preQ1 and Pepper aptamers in vitro and in cells. nature.com/articles/s4158…

Just got started on BlueSky Social. Come follow me there. Matthew Bogyo.bsky.social

An interesting short read by drug hunter on the kinetics of reversible and irreversible covalent inhibitors including some examples from the industry. It includes links for more in-depth reading.

DIA-NN 2.0 release is almost ready, will come with some big news. One is scanning methods support, at the moment doing some tuning of the algorithm using Synchro-PASEF data by Matthias Mann Lab :) Turns out, 'Q1 information' is really helpful for gaining peptidoform confidence. Likely

Very interesting paper by the groups of @CossarPeter and Luc Brunsveld in Chemical Science. An exciting chemical crosslinker that reacts with a cysteine and a histidine to identify interactions of 14-3-3 with intrinsically disordered proteins. pubs.rsc.org/en/Content/Art…

Very interesting development that the Dutch research funding organization NWO Nieuws is quitting twitter. It might be time to consider doing the same. I hope to find them back at one of the other platforms in addition to LinkedIn. nwo.nl/en/news/nwo-st…

Interesting paper by the groups of Jean-Marie Lehn and Oleksandr Koniev in J. Am. Chem. Soc.. They developed 6-fluorosalicylaldehydes into tools that initially form imines with lysines. This activates them for irreversible modification of cysteines via SNAr. pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ja…
