It’s Friday morning. It was hard to sleep last night. My heart aches for the family of #JaylandWalker. He was 25. He was shot over 60 times after being pulled over for a traffic violation. I have sons near his age. I fear for them daily. This is being Black in America.

On Monday, I had the opportunity to lead the M1 class in the medical oath alongside my M4 colleagues. What an emotional event to see our med school experiences come full circle! Congrats to the class of 2026! Also, thank you to whoever trusted me with that responsibility. 😅

Unsolicited advice to #Match2023 : go where you will be supported, heard and your goals nurtured. Residency is hard & no prestige is worth your mental health. You thrive best in soft environments, not hostile ones.

The goal is to eliminate the need to say “I’m the first woman of color to achieve XXX.”
