What a gorgeous post/video 💜
The term psychosis can evoke fear & stigma, and too many people have never even heard of PP, but this org & these wonderful ladies are working tirelessly to change all that. Do support if you can. Share/donate

In response to the Prime Minister’s announcement that the General Election will take place on Thursday 04 July 2024. We are calling on all parties to prioritise the prevention of mental ill-health and recognise there is no health without mental health.

It's been great to work with the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood on this fab programme of work to harness the power of business to support early childhood.

This is at the heart of what has led to the maternity scandals of the last 3 decades, that clinicians find it unacceptable that women might ask to for a caesarean if they knew about the risks of planned vaginal birth. In other words, that women might exercise their own judgement.

New mum seems strange? Seek help.

It could be postpartum psychosis, a treatable medical emergency.

Help make an urgent appointment with their doctor, midwife, health visitor or call 111. If you think there is imminent danger, call 999. With help they will recover.

I really think there has been a lot of awareness raised about low mood and anxiety the last few years. Is it not time we moved on to raising awareness and sharing lived experience from people with more severe mental illness? We are constantly left out of these conversations.

Looking after one’s “mental health” doesn’t mean it can prevent a mental illness from happening.

Thankyou to Rory Stewart & ALASTAIR CAMPBELL for discussing birth trauma on The Rest Is Politics. It means a lot to have this important issue raised by you both. Our Parliamentary inquiry will report tomorrow to the Government with recommendations on how to improve maternity services.

Absolutely agree and this can only be achieved by listening to people with a lived experience and their families and networks
