I've made a game about flash signalling and stridulation using morse code for tomorrow's Rangers. They'll find their 'mates' by flashing their glow bugs or rubbing their cardboard scrapers. (I will talk about making the most of single use plastics we already own!) #30DaysWild

Day 10 of #30DaysWild went very well. The Rangers had lots of fun catching all sorts of minibeasts in their pooters and we all cooled down with some water games afterwards. I loved this cute 4th instar green shield bug that my volunteer found 😍

Days 11 and 12 of #30DaysWild Walking along the river with Cirrus every day is so calming and joyous. All the banded demoiselles are flittering above the water and the birds are singing. Starting the day like this makes the world seems like a much nicer place!

I couldn't see where field maple letter had gone when I was checking the tree trail. I looked EVERYWHERE! Well ok, apart from there *grumbles quietly* stupid wind. #30DaysWild BBO Wildlife Trust

Day 15 of #30DaysWild was more wild than I was expecting! When I arrived at my mum's house, there was a juvenile jackdaw inside! It must have been trapped for a few days as she'd been away and there were no windows open. We encouraged it to eat and drink before letting it go.

I found a beetle today. Here it is, along with some other insects I've picked up this month that I haven't yet posted. Including a bonus cricket nymph on my toe! 😁 Day 18 of #30DaysWild

Day 20 of #30DaysWild. Our roses looked beautiful covered in raindrops this morning, so I tried to draw one. Raindrops are harder to draw than I expected!

I led a school trip about plants. It was the one that made me want to work at Woolley Firs when I was a trainee and I still love it! 😁 When we were planting seeds, a child held out a paper pot. I said to put it with the rest and he said 'No! This is for you!' 😭 #30DaysWild

Day 23 of #30DaysWild Nature Tots was fully booked today. We had a lovely busy session all about about bugs. Same again on Monday and plenty of spaces left! BBO Wildlife Trust Woolley Firs.

I saw some damselfly wings a bird had removed before eating it. It's kind of gruesome, but they got a meal and I got to marvel at the beautiful complexity of their structure 😍 Day 25 of #30DaysWild

A cute bundle of little spiders I saw. It's probably a bit mean, but sometimes I blow on them to watch them all drop down and trickle back up. Day 26 of #30DaysWild

I caught a Signal Crayfish! Sadly they spread disease to and outcompete our native White-Clawed Crayfish. Identified by the red undersides and white spots on the claws. (2nd pic courtesy of Cirrus finding the remains of a less fortunate individual to roll in! 🙄) #30DaysWild

I saved some preoccupied bees! I found them in the middle of a busy pavement. They seemed happy enough to continue in their new, safer location. Day 28 of #30DaysWild
