Thank you to everyone who supported our Children in Need fundraising on Friday. Through a combination of a sponsored cycle of a lap of Birmingham and the cake sale and games, we raised £176.71.

Film, Media & BTEC Creative Digital Media students visited The Core Theatre this week to participate in Solihull CEP Screen Careers event. The panel of film professionals took part in a Q&A session & learners submitted their own films for screening & feedback from the judges.

Students have been raising money for youth homelessness charity Akt this week. There have been nail painting and badge making stations available for learners to get involved in and badges have been sold to raise money.

Principal Martin Sullivan met with twins Emily & Rosie Ward to congratulate them on being selected to represent England at the Emerging Stars of Indoor Cricket tournament in India recently. They played in 4 matches, helping England to win the tournament with an undefeated record.

History students took a trip to London this week to visit the National Archives with Year 13 learners taking part in workshops on Russia in Revolution and Crisis in the reign of Mary I. Students got to handle original documents as part of their investigations.

A record number of tickets have been booked for Wednesday’s Open Evening at the College. Our teachers and current learners are looking forward to meeting prospective students and parents between 5.00pm – 8.00pm. Principal Martin Sullivan will be giving talks at 6pm & 7pm .

Six students took part in Round 1 of the ESU Mace Debate Competition this week. They did a brilliant job in representing the College as they opposed the motion ‘This House would impose a tourism tax in major cities facing overtourism’. Well done!

Acknowledging the 16 days of activism: We are proud to support United Nations 16 Days of Activism. Together, we stand against gender-based violence and commit to taking action. Our students will be sharing resources and planning impactful activities to raise awareness and drive change.

Principal Martin Sullivan is just getting started with his first talk of the night at Open Evening. It is great to be welcoming so many prospective learners, with their parents and carers, onto campus this evening.

Earlier this week, the Heartfield Wharam and Best Bands Concert took place. Well done to all the students who performed, but especially to Kiyan Chear (guitar), who won the Heartfield Wharam award & Rayhan Ishtiaq (singer) as runner up, plus Malleus who were named the Best Band.

Colleagues from Summit Learning Trust attended an inspiring evening hosted by the Solihull Soroptimists, Solihull Council & leading experts in the field of domestic violence to mark the official launch of the United Nations 16 Days of Activism campaign. The Summit #SpeakUP video was highlighted.
