Just as we heard the OpenAI news, Sean Ren got on the stage to talk about using common sense logic to probe LLMs. #SoCalNLP2023

According to csrankings.org, this is the most concentrated NLP summit ever! SoCal NLP publications easily outnumber any other university by a factor of two!

Next, we have the amazing Tatsunori Hashimoto, talking about how to probe and understand black-box LMs better! 🙌🏼 What we loved? How Tatsunori Hashimoto highlighted that we know *very* little about these LLMs that we love and use 🤔 #SoCalNLP2023 #NLProc

Our last speaker, Dan Roth, talked about understanding how LLMs *reason* (+ how defining reasoning in this age is very complex!) Fun Part? 😂 Dan shows how LLMs are still not able to plan and reason, by showing how LLMs are not able to address LA’s parking situation 🚨
