In 6 days, I will be wrapping up the school year and heading into retirement. If you have ever been my student, thank you for always being the “why” in my professional life. It has been an honor and a great gift.

This is the kind of leader Christina Melton, Ed.D. is. She is a tremendous loss. Imagine what happens to teachers when they don’t feel valued.

A great way to do this is have students use Flipgrid to make a video of themselves holding up a sign w/their preferred name and pronouncing it for you. A great way to put names with faces and learn correct pronunciation. Also easy to refer back to if needed.

Every Sunday I am overcome with relief at no longer feeling those Sunday night scaries with a new week coming (thank you retirement). I also send up a prayer for those facing another week of teaching in a pandemic. Hugs and thanks to you all.

At a time when I feel saturated with bad news, troubled times, and hatred I don’t understand, this gave me comfort today. I know not everyone shares my beliefs but I hope everyone has something/someone to comfort them in hard times.

Americans, Please exercise your right and #Vote tomorrow. Don’t embrace indifference. Don’t opt out because you don’t fully agree with your options. Vote for the candidates & issues you most believe in. Show your family, friends & the world you value our democratic process.

For those voting tomorrow, I sincerely hope you will carefully consider which candidate for SC Superintendent of Education has the legitimate education and teaching experience needed for the position.

Dear Republican Party, just because he is running does not mean you have to back him.

LGBTQ+ kids deserve to become LGBTQ+ adults. LGBTQ+ adults deserve to become LGBTQ+ elders. LGBTQ+ elders deserve to age with dignity, joy, and affirmation.

A teacher got in trouble for teaching a pre-approved book on racism because a white student said it “made them feel uncomfortable.” How uncomfortable would students of color feel having to sit and listen to the “benefits” of slavery for slaves? Stop the madness!
