#mySLTday went to see a YP at a YOT (first time there). As I introduced myself I heard someone shout "there's an actual speech and language therapist in the building. Lock the doors. Line them up. Don't let her leave". Poor guys have been without for years due to cuts 😐

Hi, I’m a speech & language therapist. You might know me from my smash hits "Yes, I know he can speak", "it's nothing to do with stammering" or my chart topping "you say he won't, I say he can't (cooperation is a complex communication skill)" your go Susan Thomson jobrackley💜

#mySLTday advised teacher not to use non-literal language. At the end of the meeting teacher turned to YP & said "well at least there's a silver lining to you getting yourself arrested. You got a SALT ax out of it. They're like hens' teeth these lot"

#mySLTday was thrilled to hear from Professor Helen Stringer that there is great interest from final year SLT students at Newcastle SLS for dissertation analysing prevalence of SLCN in police custody population. Looking forward to supervising this project. 🤩

#mySLTday apparently Shakespeare wrote King Lear whilst in quarantine during the plague. But Shakespeare didn't have Netflix to contend with. I am trying to be more productive today Clare Ashworth Speechmark jobrackley💜

Hey anti vaxxers- This is what life is like when we don't have a vaccine for a very contagious disease. Do you get it yet?

Article on reframing vulnerability in police custody online Social & Legal Studies: bit.ly/2T3OpCC 5 yrs to write/rewrite/refine w/ A LOT of feedback A HUGE thx to those who showed me kindness & patience - without you, this paper would still be a half-baked draft on a USB🙏🙏🙏

#mySLTday pleased to get request from police directly for SLT assessment for someone currently under investigation. They valued a previous report received for someone else & got in touch. Usually its L&D practitioner that recognises need/refers on. Slow but significant progress
