I'm pleased to sign the New York Declaration on Animal Consciousness: 1) Our best science suggests some animals are conscious. 2) Many other animals realistically might be conscious. 3) It's irresponsible to ignore (the chance of) consciousness in decisions impacting animals.

I'm very happy to share that my third book, provisionally called Animals, State, and Utopia: Robert Nozick's Animal Ethics, is now forthcoming with Oxford University Press. If all goes according to plan, it will be released in 2025.

The latest issue of The Vegan magazine, from The Vegan Society, features a ‘deep dive’ piece on the ethics of grey squirrel ‘management’ I cowrote with @Dr_SVG. While we oppose killing greys, we recognise that this isn’t a straightforward issue.
