We at UNFPA are concerned about the situation in #Vanuatu following the devastating earthquake that struck the island yesterday. I witnessed the resilience of the Vanuatu people during my visit this month. Keeping everyone affected by this disaster in my thoughts.

After the strong earthquake yesterday all UN Fiji, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu & Vanuatu staff based in Vanuatu are accounted for and well. The Vanuatu 🇻🇺 government has requested United Nations support. We are ready to deploy and are working with government and partners on an effective and coordinated response.

With support from Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade 🇦🇺 & USAID's Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance, & in partnership with ADRA International , UNFPA in the Pacific has distributed dignity kits to 66 households in Port Vila. These kits contain essential hygiene items to help women & girls maintain their health and well-being during challenging times.
