It is difficult to explain how the systematic killing of thousands of people had a place in the heart of 20th-century Europe. Was it known what went on behind the barbed wire of Germany's largest and most lethal concentration camp? #SeeingAuschwitz

Once the machine of hate ideology is unleashed, it creates havoc at a faster rate than any possible reaction of protective mechanisms. It is therefore, a question to all of us. It is OUR duty to reject and prevent all inequality and discrimination.

During the Holocaust, the creation of ghettos was a key step in the Nazi process of brutally separating, persecuting, and ultimately destroying Europe's Jews. In the picture, view of a barbed-wire fence separating part of the ghetto in Krakow from the rest of the city.

We all have a mental image of what #Auschwitz was, but is it really objective, and is it free of prejudices acquired from literature, cinema or even the images of the camp itself? #SeeingAuschwitz exhibition invites us to reflect on it with the photographic legacy of the camp.
