Official scorers will often change a call after they’ve had a chance to watch replay. The goal is to get the call right, even if that opportunity doesn’t come until later in the game. Fans threatening the Tampa OS and some of my colleagues instigating it sucks. Grow the fuck up.

The New York Mets are the first team in the modern era (since 1901) to have their starting pitchers allow fewer than 15 runs (13 runs allowed) and no homers in their first 11 home games of a season.

A year ago today we released a book that we poured our hearts and souls into. We set out to cover the Sports Phone era from every angle and to pay homage to those who made it happen. Hope we made you all proud! Many thanks those who contributed, and happy birthday to 976-1313. 🎂

A great book...Sports Phone is how I learned about Marino being drafted by the Fins...a 10 cent call via the pay phone at JCHS to 976-1313...such a great memory

Excited (and a little nervous) to share that I’m launching a new sports podcast: Gordon Damer on Sports. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a while. Hope you’ll give it a listen #GordonDamerOnSports podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/gor…

The New York Mets starting pitchers have now allowed 4 or fewer runs in each of their first 29 games to begin the season. It’s the longest streak by a National League team to begin a season in the modern era (since 1901).

The WWEification of the HR derby intros reminds me of an interview I did with Bob Sheppard. When I asked him if he was ever told to change his classy, stately style he said “If they want a professional PA announcer they have me. If they want a screamer let them hire Crazy Eddie!”
