Tomorrow is Peggy Schuyler's birthday! In order to celebrate, let's play some Schuyler family trivia. We'll share the correct answers tomorrow, but for now vote in the thread below for the answer you believe is correct. To start us off: what year was Peggy born in?

And the answer is... 24! Peggy married Stephen van Rensselaer in June of 1783, making her 24 at the time.

And the answer is... the French Revolution! Madame de la Tour du Pin Gouvernet visited Peggy in the 1790s and remarked that she was more educated on the French Revolution than Frenchmen themselves were.

Hamilton wrote to Peggy asking she come to Morristown to distract men from Eliza, who he was courting. He wrote: "By dividing her empire it will be weakened and she will be much less dangerous when she has a rival equal in charms to dispute the prize with her. I solicit your aid"

Peggy had three children, though sadly she lost one son as an infant and a daughter at the age of twelve.

And the answer is... Albany and New York City! She started her basic education in Albany, likely through the Dutch Reformed Church, and continued it in New York City starting around the age of eight. Her formal education ended around the age of fifteen or sixteen.

Peggy is buried at Albany Rural Cemetery today, alongside her husband and with her parents.

In addition to English, Peggy spoke Dutch (which she learned as a child growing up in a bilingual household), French (which she learned as part of her formal education), and German (which she decided to teach herself after her schooling ended).

Peggy was born in 1758, making her 266 years old today. Happy birthday, Peggy! 🥳
