I was reminded that 3 years ago today we saw Dweezil Zappa and The Hot Rats Orchestra .A bit of the Soundcheck on video.

Recording sessions for Funky Nothingness took place primarily in Feb and March 1970 at the recently opened Record Plant in LA. FZ, once again in the producer's chair, was joined by several musicians from Hot Rats, resulting in hours of original songs, covers, and improvisations.

This month we celebrate 51 years of 'Waka/Jawaka.' 'Waka/Jawaka' is both a sequel of sorts to 'Hot Rats' and a precursor to 'The Grand Wazoo' which would be released later in 1972. According to FZ, the title was "something that showed up on an ouija board at one time."
