DFL spin on the Education Omnibus bill did MN’s public schools no favors. And Mpls legislators’ silence - on the district’s challenges, the state’s role in them, & a sustainable path forward - has been deafening.

If you’re an elected leader publicly supporting the Minneapolis Public Schools tech levy (& you should) but *silent* on the need to fully fund the SPED & EL cross-subsidies that cost MPS more $ each year than the levy will gain it - you’ve lost the plot.

Fascinating new data on the severity of chronic absenteeism in MN schools from MDE. Interesting that while the number of chronically absent students doubled from 18/19 to 21/22 the slices of absenteeism have been pretty stable. How does this compare to other states? #mnleg

If a school board candidate a). Denies the literacy crisis, b). Says literacy standards are made up, & c). Suggests poor kids should have different expectations… They are unserious & unfit to serve.

The bigotry of low expectations is a helluva thing.
