On June 12th of 1967, the U.S. Supreme Court rules that states cannot ban interracial marriage in the Loving v. Virginia case. The court finds that such a ban violates the equal protection and due process clauses of the 14th Amendment. #LoveIsLove #LoveOverpowers

In the 1970’s Angela Davis began publishing her works, mostly focusing on racial and gender equality. Davis is an American political activist, philosopher, and author. She is a professor at University of California Santa Cruz. #BlackExcellence #RiseAbove

On March 6th of 1986 Mike Tyson became the youngest heavyweight champion of the world. Tyson goes on through the later part of the decade to post an undefeated record with 37 wins. #BlackExcellence #BlackStrength

On September 12th of 1992 Mae Carol Jamison became the first Black woman in space, traveling on the space shuttle Endeavor. Mae is a doctor, an astronaut, a dancer and a businesswoman. #BlackExcellence #WomanPower #LeadByExample
