Absolutely shocking that The Church of England General Synod chamber is so sparsely attended whilst we discuss foodbanks and food poverty. People sod off to do what Church Times? whilst the rest passionately participate in what it fundamentally means to be a Christian. #poverty

The first touches of autumnal gold have begun to creep into the churchyard. We’ve not had much of a summer this year, but regardless of the weather the Church’s year moves on and our rhythm of prayer continues.

Today the Church commemorates St Augustine of Hippo, a figure I’ve found particularly helpful. I think his statement ‘Thou hast made us for thyself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it finds its rest in thee’ is one of the most perfectly crafted sentences ever written.
