With all of the back and forth about who is a legitimate "working person", I guess we're unironically at the stage of defining the proletarian and capitalist classes.

On this note, there are theories about the original justification. Charitably: if markets were open, the British industrialisation lead would allow them to permanently outcompete all other producers. This didn't happen, but they couldn't back off, even when it was backfiring.

Is it possible to be too focused on the friend-enemy distinction? Everyone knew that Labour prefers the US Democrats, but by not even maintaining formal impartiality, they took an unnecessary risk and lost. I guess we'll see the consequences soon.

Portraying Labour's anti-farmer push as 'dekulakisation' is accurate, but even the Soviets tried to draw a line between good farmers and bad farmers. As far as I can tell, the Labour line is essentially 'screw the farmers, we don't need them'. More radical... or just stupid?

A competent and self-interested British government could be making quite a lot of the current trade war between the US and Canada. It's a shame we don't have one.

Someone made a point a while ago about not backing officers into a corner like this, else they might get some rather undemocratic ideas. My money is on cowardice, but let's see how it goes.

Maybe hosting the Islamists is more in keeping with British tradition than we commonly suppose. After all, we have a long history of giving safe haven to radicals and revolutionaries, consequences be damned, both at home and abroad.

This graph, but it's the gaping hole in the Russosphere left by the Bolsheviks on basically any metric (especially economic development)
