You know you’re at the Frankfurt Airport when you overhear: ‘Great stuff. Mission critical, Sean, is for us to get the framework together on that asap.’ #mainhattan

God bless the Beatles. My 3yr has always wanted me to put him to bed but now he wants his daddy to do it. I asked him why & he said it was b/c ‘Daddy knows all the words to Yellow Submarine’. He said I could put him to bed once I learned all the words. #Beatles #toddlers

3 year-old said he was playing bombing with his friend at daycare yesterday. 🙁 Then he said they had to ‘do bombing’ in order to make oil… which kind of sums up US foreign relations in the past several decades. Out of the mouths of babes.

I have not yet seen Oppenheimer, but last night I dreamt I was back at the University of Chicago attending a committee on social thought-esque seminar, and Cillian Murphy was sitting in on it to prepare for the role

Culture clash: my British husband walked into my parents’ kitchen and asked my American father if he could make himself a cup of tea. My father’s response: ‘you’re asking my permission to make a cup of tea? Are you out of your mind?’

Child discovered allowance and asked if he could have one. I said yes, that his father and I had been talking about it and we just needed to decide how much to give him each week. He then asked if his allowance could be a penny… I had to explain a little thing called inflation.

The fact that my somewhat clingy 4 yr old really likes the Sparks song ‘Nothing is as good as they say it is’ (which is about a newborn baby wanting to return to the womb) is a bit too on the nose… #sparks

Child asked me how how babies were made. I explained in as scientifically accurate a way as I thought a 4 year old might understand. His follow up question: ‘how do you make pasta?’
