RCMP posted: Bay Roberts RCMP responding to an event involving an unknown man walking with a firearm in the area of Mint Cove Pond Road in Spaniard’s Bay. Residents are asked to shelter in place & the public is asked to avoid the area. Update to follow.

These are photos shared today by RCMP NL of the Amelia Earhart statue. As NTV first reported yesterday, the statue was recently found in the region 3 1/2 months after it was stolen from Harbour Grace. I'll have more tonight on the NTV News.

I was at court today when the man suspected of igniting three brush fires in the downtown area of St. John's earlier this week was led into the courtroom. Caleb Boland-Pelkey, 20, faces 3 counts of arson, along with fines of up to $150,000. I'll have a story on the NTV News.

Ibrahim Hussein - accused of murdering a man on Watson street in St. John's in April - was supposed to have a preliminary inquiry begin today. Instead, his lawyer said they are waiving the inquiry. Hussein will be arraigned in Supreme Court in the coming months. NTV News
