Today marked the launch of the Rochester City School District Restorative H.U.B. at the Douglass Campus. H.U.B., standing for Healing, Understanding, and Belonging, is an intentional space dedicated to building community, resolving conflicts, and restoring relationships within our school communities.

Rewind to yesterday's grand opening of the H.U.B. (Healing, Understanding, and Belonging) at the Douglass Campus. With more than two dozen counselors, coaches, and community partners, this is a place of support for our community. #ONERCSD

The "Rediscovering the Beloved Community" workshop at the #DCJSYouthJusticeConference highlights the Rochester City School District Restorative H.U.B (Healing, Understanding and Belonging), an innovative space and process for addressing wrong-doing and restoring the right relationships.

Deputy Superintendent Ruth Turner and other presenters explained how the Restorative H.U.B. helps break down barriers to support the needs of students and families, and discussed how meaningful community partnerships and youth collaboration can help actualize a beloved community.

MYTH: Restorative Practices are soft on discipline. REALITY: Facing those you harmed and being asked to clean up the messes you made is way more accountable than sitting home for 3 days disconnected from the real consequences of your actions. Accountability = repairing the harm!
