Last minute goodbye party for my Dad , Robert Block, at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Linear Accelerator where he worked for 60 years. He’s moving to Princeton, NJ to be near us. The moving van shows up tomorrow!

After a week delay due to bureaucratic paperwork, my dad finally moved into his new home in Princeton, NJ. Only about a 25 minute drive from our home. They had a red carpet welcome and virgin mimosas for him!

Had the honor to speak at The College of NJ Chi Epsilon induction ceremony. Afterwards, as a special surprise, all the Honorary Chapter Members received a plaque. Chi Epsilon is the Civil Engineering Honor Society. #Chi Epsilon #ASCE ⁦ASCE Headquarters⁩

We’ve had a guest all day hanging out by the street light wood post in our front yard. We think it’s the same one our neighbor two doors down had hanging out against their house a few days ago. To give you an idea how small this baby fawn is, the wood post is only 6.5” square.

Longtime friend and ASCE member, Ted Green, sang in the choir performing Christopher Tin’s work at Carnegie Hall, NYC. The orchestra and choir were wonderful and we ran into Ted after the concert, photo included. Who knew civil engineers can sing? 😀#ASCE ⁦ASCE Headquarters⁩

Had the shortest ASCE Annual Convention in Tampa, FL due to Tropical Storm/Hurricane Milton raining on our parade. Only had time for the ASCE Board meeting, pre-conference events, and the opening reception. Orlando’s Poet Laureate Shawn Welcome recited a wonderful poem. #ASCE

Got to go on one tour at the ASCE 2024 Annual Convention before Hurricane Milton decided to make an appearance. Went to the “new” Salvador Dalí museum and learned about how the architecture of the building reflects Dali’s artistic style. #ASCE #Salavdor Dalí

Had the honor to give a 2 hour engineering ethics presentation at the NJAFM (New Jersey Association for Floodplain Management) in Atlantic City, NJ. Got a photo op with keynote speaker meteorologist and author Glenn “Hurricane “ Schwartz who spoke about climate change & weather.

I’m so very proud of my Dad who gave a presentation to staff and fellow residents at his assisted living home on the differences between CT, PET, and MRI scans from his background on nuclear physics. It was will received - He will only be 96 years young on 02/11.
