These are Disease Yield Gap trials. The best varieties least affected by disease (<0.2 t/ha) included Longsword, Beckom & Sunmaster. But the top 4 yielding varieties with disease controlled (Calibre, Rockstar, Boree & Scepter) lost >1 t/ha with no control GOA GRDC

If #ausgov is serious about improving river health in the Murray-Darling, it must divert the $billions being wasted on more unnecessary water recovery from farmers, and instead invest in addressing the degradation drivers still making our rivers sick, such as carp wrecking water

Andrew Watson (@bugs_are_us) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Revegetate river banks, fence off stock from rivers and provide off-steam watering points, invest in fish ladders at all weirs, most of which provide western towns with water supply, and invest in European Carp control- simple really…

We've been sold a lie for decades: "ORGANIC" and "NATURAL" are not only better for you-they're better for the planet. Sounds great, right? Except it's not true. Here's the story of how these labels became some of the most successful marketing deceptions of our time 🧵:

One of the biggest myths about "Organic" food is that it’s more nutritious than conventional food. Here’s the truth: it’s not. Let’s break down the science behind this common misconception 🧵: 1/11

EPR system in Australia is absolutely obsurd! Trying to get this accurate and adding buyers quantities x variety is difficult and time consuming, especially if you store grain. When are we going to a point of sale epr transaction exactly like we do with levies. GRDC 🤬

Totally agree. Grain sites need to collect a flat rate for all varieties to ensure EPR is collected. Then allocated to seed companies via variety.

I met a #farmer who thought I should raise awareness of the dangers of ATVs. My partner was thrown from one & lost his life when the accelerate pedal got stuck due to a build up of debris under & inside the pedal mechanism. Wearing the seat belt would have saved his life. 🧵

HOW MUCH TAX IS PAID ON A SLAB OF VB ? (And could someone please check my maths as this seems ridiculous) $59.00 retail $53.64 (excluding GST) 💰$5.36 GST *Beer Excise $61.57 per litre of alcohol 30 cans x 375ml = 11.25 litres of beer 11.25 litres x 4.9% alcohol = 0.551

Thoughts are with my friends, family and their livestock down the Cooper and the Bulloo. Floods are rising beyond old records yesterday and today. Thargomindah levy breached last night and the town evacuated to the airport. People first. Livestock second.

Jacinta Allan you’ve put a knife through the heart of the CFA, its volunteers. Come and try these on for size and put yourself on the front line. I bet good money (that you’ve just taken) that it’s just the start of it. Give them an inch and they’ll take a mile.

Dear NSW GOVT I know you no longer recognise drought and just reckon communities need to be more resilient. You can’t disconnect yourselves from the land, you own the kangaroos and they need to be destocked, like we are doing with our livestock. Will you pay me to cull them?

David Sandow We have those sorts of issues all the time, I have found it is usually a capacity issue, I was told by a Tech type that when they struggled for bandwidth, the tower drops off the weakest signals first.

Pressure tested this 8280t WRL sealed shed this morning with Chris Warrick for a collab GRDC & Kondinin Group Research Report on sealable grain storage options. It achieved a 5min+ half-life, compliant with the Australian Standard AS2628-2010 so suitable for fumigation.

Favour to ask of our North American crew, like to start a thread on Tile plow installation. It’s likely to get very big here over the next ~decade and wanting to start well with good information to save pain later. So throwing it open to put your thoughts in. Mounted or trailed?1

Imagine just for a second this crossing in the Midwest of WA didn't have the flashing lights you can see featured in this video? Would you see this Aurizon train carting iron ore? Would you be comfortable with your loved ones interacting with such a poorly lit hazardous vehicle
