On #NationalApprenticeshipWeek2023, here are some of our new intake getting some hands on experience! Elspeth, Ellis, Brandon and Chad all enjoy their apprenticeships because they are gaining valuable ‘on the job’ experience whilst working towards their qualification.

A dogging barrel hoist gearbox used on a crane in a steel works needed repairing as the barrel that the wire ropes run on was worn and dangerous. The barrel had seized onto the output shaft so we had to cut it off, create new drawings and reverse engineer a new shaft.

Custom bevel helical units designed to specific weight and size requirements to drive a multi layer pasta making machine. The gearcase and shafts are coated to make them resistant to rust in the high humidity environment in which they operate. #customgearing

A batch of 6 large #custommade #helicalgear units are destined for wash plants in the aggregate industry. A single input shaft drives a pair of synchro-meshed counter rotating output shafts which in turn drive the washing logs which clean the aggregates.

Two #Boxfeeder gearboxes came to us for full strip down and inspection after both suffered a failure. One of the #wormwheels had broken gear teeth, likely caused by a major shock load. The second had excessive wear and backlash with poor gear contact.
