Stan Fischer - A Three Dimensional Bradman, a pinnacle reached by very few – indeed I don’t know of any other. First, he was Every (wo)man’s economist. Second, the go-to person on policy. Third, and most important, his humaneness. There won't be another Stan.

Most enjoyable eminar with excellent questions. Everybody has ideology. But the way we are using it has radically changed around the now polarized world - and is problematical. I illustrate with the narrative about an imminent recession in the US, & job growth in India.

I feel more confident about the safety and durability of this bridge after reading the article. Might be my bias but women tend to not compromise on safety and security of others.

Watched the entire Australia South Africa match. When it ended, I cried along with Maharaj. Victory for all - SA, cricket, possibly even Australia

"If I knew that I was going to die today, I think I should still want to hear the cricket scores," mathematician G.H. Hardy. Remark to his sister while he was ill, likely in his final days.

Kudos to Ravinder Kaur for this eye-opening article masterfully balancing data with narrative to show how policy (like SSS) can rewrite entrenched inequities. Voices : Yes, JEE! IITs are closing the gender gap, but there’s still a long road ahead timesofindia.indiatimes.com/blogs/voices/y…

However, such behavior is noticed more when women are involved. Because men have generally been the majority in most disciplines their behavior is ignored or discounted. Or thought of as eccentric. Or women are not privy to it.
