A brilliant photo of some of our campus #hedgehogs in our #wildflowermeadows by raullobo_conservation_work. In the lighter Summer nights, you'll have more opportunity than ever to see our nocturnal prickly pals. 💧Remember to leave out water for wildlife during this heatwave

Achieving your dreams is the best feeling! That's what I did yesterday. I became a Zoologist! From a young age I fell in love with animals and always knew being a Zoologist was what I wanted to be. Now I can say I am! Thank you to everyone who has supported me!

Today I presented my UROS project which was on building a software for monitoring the movements of Lincoln's mute swans. I won the Best People's Choice Poster Award 😊. Thank you to my supervisors Dr Jenny Dunn and Laetitia who supported me with the project! Lincoln Swans

Thank you to everyone who has supported the Lincoln Swan Project during 2024. We've had an amazing year for the project through our continued ringing, health checking & research on Lincoln Swans. We received over 900 swan sightings this year which is really incredible 🦢💙.

Swan Track was built to help us monitor the movements of our swans. With the maps we will keep you updated with where the swans are. L091 was ringed at The Brayford in 2019. Since then he has been sighted at North Cave Wetlands (July 21)and then Cleethorpes Boating Lake (Feb 22).

This was the first part of work I was involved with for the Lincoln Swans Project. The Lincoln Swan Project and many other ringing projects success are dependent on community scientists reporting birds. We have fantastic project data collectors and are always looking for more 🦢.

Back home from the final fieldwork trip of the winter to the Ouse Washes, to work on Whooper Swans. Always a pleasure, never a chore! (Sound on!) See you back in Iceland 👋

Nice to see this young swan returned home to Lincoln over the weekend. The bird was brought to us in January, having been rescued with the Police after being hit by a vehicle. The bird’s knee had popped through the skin, requiring treatment. Now fully healed and back home!

One of our latest arrivals today, from Washingborough near Lincoln. The bird was found carrying a pike fishing lure, with the barbed hooks clearly present in his leg for a time given the extent of his injuries. The swan is now undergoing continued treatment in our care.

Thanks to callers who alerted us to this swan trapped between some stock fencing near Scunthorpe recently. The bird was easily rescued, and released onto more appropriate waters.

Today our volunteers attended this swan in Lincoln, who had been avoiding capture for several days with fishing line tightly embedded around one leg. Thankfully the bird was swiftly caught without the need of our rescue boat, much to the relief of all concerned.

Rescuers were able to help a swan this afternoon at Woodhall Spa. The bird had been forced into a tight space within these Environment Agency workings, after a territorial dispute. Now recovering, we expect the bird to be released in the near future.
