On Saturday the 5th of October, members of the Auckland Astronomical Society attended an outreach event at the Viaduct on Auckland cities waterfront, we were there to celebrate the international observe the Moon night by providing the public with free telescope views of the Moon!

Despite lots of cloud around we still managed to show huge amounts of Aucklanders their first close up views of the Moon and when gaps allowed for it Jupiter and Saturn as well. A huge thanks has to go to Niven Brown for organising the event. Photography by Jonathan Green.
