"Leftism" is a lot of things, but chief among them, it's a label that chains communists together with anticommunists. It's a concept that does not correspond to or clarify the *real* political antagonisms of 21st-century American society.

All aspects of our dissident politics, from the antiwar effort to the fight against deep state abuse rings, can only succeed on the basis of class struggle. This is a crucial lesson from Trump’s Epstein betrayal, which shows corruption won’t be defeated from the top-down.

A major message William Z. Foster conveyed is that the USA cannot be treated as exceptional, & is subject to the same rules of class conflict that apply elsewhere. This means there can be no reforming our way to people’s victory here; workers revolution is the only path forward.

We need a change in how we talk about BRICS. We must make clear that BRICS has only been able to expand this much due to the work done by the globe’s popular revolutionary movements, because the power balance doesn’t shift on its own; it’s all about the class struggle.

It wasn’t until Ukraine that the modern communist movement was really tested, & forced to progress to a new stage. Iraq should have been that watershed moment, but back then the movement didn’t yet have a fighting chance. We’ve made breakthroughs, but the test is not over.

Other recent tests have been whether we’d keep Palestine at the center of our practice, whether we’d resist the trend of right-wing “populism,” and whether we’d act serious about advancing the actual workers struggle. We cannot let our revolutionary standards slip.

The whole narrative about how Trump wants “peace” has been exposed by the neocons themselves, who are showing that they seek to use this narrative to crush Russia. The truly anti-imperialist position is that Russia cannot agree to “peace” until it fully defeats Kiev’s Nazism.
