Hi, everyone! I'm Chelsea Brantley, librarian at Nags Head Elementary School on the Outer Banks of NC. This summer I plan to rejuvenate by spending lots of time reading on the beach!

A1: End of the year procedures include inventory, weeding, and getting students excited about summer reading. This year we are sending all students home with a new book and fun summer activity ideas. Also, due to COVID-19, we are looking for ways to replace lost books! #AASLchat

A2: Each year, I invite the librarian from the public library to come visit our students and promote their summer reading program. We are also promoting titles that students can check-out from the public library and the NC Kids Digital Library for summer reading. #AASLchat

A3: This year our Battle of the Books team met virtually and combined students from all across the district. Students loved getting to know their peers from other schools and working together. We hope to keep this district-wide camaraderie going in the future! #AASLchat
