Research shows that "when teacher PD focused on the curriculum materials teachers would use in their classrooms, student performance rose about 10 percentile points." edweek.org/ew/articles/20…

A school superintendent said something profound in his address cancelling school for the next 3 weeks. He said: In the end, it will be impossible to know if we overreacted or did too much, but it will be QUITE apparent if we under reacted or did too little. Hear those words....

It is time for my evening PSA before 🛏⏰: 1) TN is testing more individuals now, so we will see an increase in confirmed cases in our area. This is expected and not necessarily a bad thing. #StayCalm 2) Please do your part to #FlattenTheCurve through #socialdistancing!

Instructional Coaches: Now is a great time to check on the teachers you serve. 👊🏼Let then know you notice how they’re caring for their Ss even when they’re not in school. 💡Help them find meaningful resources. 👍🏻Simply ask, “Are you ok?” #CoachingRedefined #educoach

Please share! Meals will NOT be delivered next week. Pick-up will still be available at no cost for children under 18 years old at each elementary school (not the high school) between 11 AM - 12:30 PM.

Piece of advice from a former principal..Teachers use this time & utilize social media 2 strengthen RELATIONSHIPS w/ your Ss. ✔️on them, encourage them, praise them, send hope & understanding, calm fears.. the “work” will be there when they get back. Bonds made will last forever.

There will be no high stakes testing this year, and yet all over America educators have continued to teach and inspire their students online. I hope the powers that be realize we do what we do because we love children and not because a test is held over our heads.

Do you see a trend here? Yesterday, the confirmed case number was 27. Today it’s 38. The virus is spreading. It’s not spreading on its own. It’s spreading every time we come into contact with some we don’t have to come in contact with. Stay Home! #StayHome

Great leaders..... -Small ego, big mission. -We before me. -A lot of love and accountability. -A lot of grace and truth. -Demanding but not demeaning. -Loving but not enabling. -Shout praise. Whisper criticism. -High standards, low tolerance for excuses.

Districts are working hard & TN Dept of Education supports Gov. Bill Lee’s call for a temporary suspension of accountability measures for this year. I look forward to working with the General Assembly to ensure teachers feels supported in focusing on educating their students.

Forgiveness doesn’t validate the ones who have hurt us, and it doesn’t justify their hurtful actions. Forgiveness saves us. It sets us free.

Good teachers know their lesson plans. Great teachers know their students. Good coaches know X's and O's. Great coaches know their players. Good leaders know their vision. Great leaders know their team. Your people make the difference. They matter. Remind them that you care.
