eyes lighting up the instant she spotted him, running into his arms. “ dada! ”

why do they need grown ups anyway ? they're all so strange . .

“ up! ” was the only word that made it out of the childs mouth as she made a beeline for the table, indicating gor him to help her up into one of the chairs. “ will you paint too? ”

childish laughter filled the air, a shriek of glee as she was tossed upwards and caught again. “ good. ” small hands place either side of his face, squishing his cheeks.

“ yes you can! ” she chirped as she reached for her paint brushes and such, offering one to him.

“ i painted with carl today, ” she smiled, releasing his cheeks so he could speak normally. “ and auntie carol made cookies! ”

“ i painted all of us, all of our family. ” she explained, swinging her dangling legs. “ only one . . ” or three.

“ dada! ” she giggled. “ with your big beard and big tummy! ”

she patted his stomach. “ uh huh!! ”

she nuzzled against his hand, peeking over his shoulder out of tha window. “ dada, can we go for a walk? ”

“ can we go to the gardens? i wanna play hide and seek! ” she looked up at him with big eyes.

she's clinging to him, burying her face into the nook of his neck.

she smiled broadly, eager to spend some time with him for a change.
