Fife College is delighted to be awarded the additional contract, by SPS, to deliver the learning & skills provision at HMP Kilmarnock. This is an excellent opportunity to provide learning within another prison, bringing the total number of establishments we deliver in to 16.

🙂 "Random Acts of Kindness Day" was celebrated by learners in HMP Stirling. 90 individual matchboxes were made & gifted to everyone. These contained a small gift & a kind personal message along with a friendship booklet containing interesting facts, tasks and puzzles.

HMP & YOI Polmont's female learners celebrated International Women's Day with an event exploring its meaning through class discussions, art & poetry. The learners received a certificate of achievement presented by Fife College Deputy Principal for their involvement in the event.

🎨 HMP Grampian learners have been busy creating their entries for the 2024 Koestler Arts Awards. An in-house exhibition was held prior to submission that showcased over 120 creative entries, which highlighted the hard work and creativity shown by learners.

In October, individuals at HMP Castle Huntly showcased their artwork in a charity fundraiser. One of the artists, Jamie, spoke about his hopes to hold his own event on release. We're delighted that his first exhibition opened in East Kilbride on the 5th of April! Fife College Prison Learning

🎼 In partnership with Kirkcaldy Orchestra, learners in HMP Glenochil engaged in music sessions mastering composition & classical music appreciation. Their journey culminated in an inspiring showcase, with orchestra members bringing the learners' original compositions to life.

🎨 Fife College prison-based learners have submitted 771 Koestler Arts entries for the 2024 awards. We look forward to the results being announced in the Autumn.

Learners from the Life Skills course at HMP Castle Huntly showcased their culinary skills. They drew straws for roles, selected mystery ingredients, & prepared dishes. A tasting contest was held, judged on taste & presentation, which promoted teamwork & innovation in the kitchen.

A celebration event was held at HMP Shotts showcasing learner's success from the last year which was attended by students, family and friends. Highlights included a live performance by music students, an exhibition of the 2023 Koestler award entries in art and digital media.

During Mental Health Awareness Week, HMP Inverness learners explored mindfulness through art. Their "Behind the Mask" project reveals the contrast between our inner feelings and the persona we present to others, using colours and words to express hidden emotions.

🌸 HMYOI Polmont learners marked Mental Health Awareness Week by creating a windowsill garden to focus on growth & created a flower display alongside this. A wellbeing wall was created for learners to post messages of positivity for each other as the week progressed.

We're thrilled to celebrate the talent of a learner from HMP Glenochil who has been awarded the Ian Rankin Creative Writing Scholarship, thanks to our partnership with Adam Smith Scholarships. This is a fantastic accomplishment for the learner.

The overwhelming response to the FCSA Awards continues to impress, with notable contributions from prison-based learners who submitted 354 entries. This remarkable participation highlights the significant impact our staff have on the educational journey of all learners.

🎨 'The Rock Ridge Carnival' mural at HMP Low Moss, created by learners, adds a splash of joy and colour to the visit room. Echoing the spirit of Glasgow's renowned Irn Bru Carnival, it provides an environment for families to create lasting, happy memories during their visits.
