Ooooo it’s field work time 🕺 To Ottawa today, and Resolute tomorrow ✈️

After a treacherous 5 days of travel, we made it to Resolute yesterday! Today we have a couple twin otter flights lined up to get our crew and all our gear to the field site ✈️

Just finished teaching my last Marine Science lecture of the semester! I had a couple students come up after to tell me how much they enjoyed my class, and let me tell you, I was delighted. I LOVE helping students love science 🥹

RIP Dr. Ian Stirling, one of the most incredible people I’ve ever had the privilege of meeting.

I convocated on Friday! Only 8 months after my defence 😅 I jumped right into work after my defence, so it was nice to have an opportunity to reflect and remember what a big accomplishment this PhD was 😊

As I’m sure is the same for many Albertans and Canadians, Jasper has been a very important place for my dad and I over the years This has been heart wrenching to witness 😔

New paper out today! 🎉 This is a new population dynamics model for a data deficient beluga whale population, making use of the few existing aerial survey abundance estimates and a recent abundance estimate from satellite imagery! wildlife.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/jw…

New publication alert! 🐻‍❄️ We looked at the prevalence of an emerging Arctic pathogen in polar bears in the Beaufort Sea. Findings showed some interesting trends linked to ringed seal predation! And I made a fun little infographic! 🤗 meridian.allenpress.com/jwd/article/do…

It was such a privilege to work on this paper and learn so much from my co-authors
