“As The Day Draws,” by Plain Runner The Bloodless Ones usually came out dusk, and only on moonless nights. Sherlyn could spot them a mile off by their cadence. The steps never landed right, the shoulders didn't move as a man's would, especially a man worn out from a trek across

Never be afraid to write for fun. To make the working class man grin a bit at the end of his day. To make his heart feel a little more daring the next morning. He wants to be a hero for those he loves. Give him a yarn he can hang onto. Use the best you got, and get better with

I am grateful for the established and prolific artists and writers who give their time and encouragement to a guy like me. I am grateful for those just starting out. I am grateful for the literate and poetic; the philosophically and historically learned who have been willing to

The Yuletide is here. As such, I am writing a short story I hope to have ready by Christmas. A bit of a catch, though… It is a story set in the world of “Travel By Star.” It will reference events in that book. It will involve one of the main characters. There Will Be

“Give me not up to the will of my adversaries; for false witnesses have risen against me, and they breathe out violence.” Psalm 27:12 Especially when that adversary is myself. So much of the Christian life is simply a fight to see rightly and act accordingly. The fierce irony

They say the devil’s greatest trick was convincing men he doesn’t exist. I’m inclined to think it’s that he sowed the seed of indifference. That God loves us at all is met with a shrug of towering proportions.

If you’re looking for a book that goes all in on this, you might enjoy my novel, “Travel By Star.” Also, the latter chapters have all sorts of wintry goodness… Rugged mountains, great fir trees, horses tromping through new fallen snow, a warm and bright inn full of timeless

Robins are also seen as a symbol of Winter’s ending, of light after dark, of green returning to trees. They were all still, wondering what to do next, when Lucy said, "Look! There's a robin, with such a red breast. It's the first bird I've seen here. I say!—I wonder can birds

Off to a slow start (due to some traveling), but this is happening. In a land where the cold is never cruel, new and old mysteries gather darkly—the wrack bearing no song, the stone longing for light.

My thanks to W. C. Collier for chiming in here with his thoughts on “Travel By Star.” Glad to hear you’re enjoying the read; I’ll be looking forward to your review. Always grateful to be mentioned alongside Michael F Kane, too.

“‘Prince of Egypt’ has some decent artwork and songplay, but it handles its themes and metaphors with all the subtlety of a desert preacher.” -The Ra Herald I make no claims to cleverness with my sarcasm here, but I do think it’s worth noting an assumption we tend to take on

A follow up… In no way am I saying we should not focus on excellence of craft and the fundamentals of storytelling simply because we have a true message. A heart in the right place is a good start, but the work still has to be done well. Neither is this an argument against

Does this man not know the weakness of my ego? 😅 Whatever the case, I am glad of his company on this writer’s road. If you have younger readers in your life, or are a young at heart adventurer, you would do well to consider his books.
