It is ridiculous to refer to a question about whether a particular law is discriminatory - especially one that turns on complex questions like what count as special measures under ICERD - as a dispute about 'facts'.

On top of it, the 83% “poll” was of 738 people. Probably why the MP is so touchy. The fact that an initiative that is supposed to be a result of years of grassroots demand from the indigenous population keeps referring to such a flimsy survey says it all.

Of course it’s interfering and of course they should. The austerity threatened by the RBA, especially arguing for wage restraint, is a political agenda and should be voted on.
