On this day in 1988, Castleford Tigers were in 1st Division (pre Superleague) action v Oldham & were 22 - 19 winners. The game was last, great ball handling prop Barry Johnson played for Cas, target of many high shots & late "tackles" he had his jaw broken & career ruined by Tim Slatter.
On this day, back in 1992, Leigh were visitors down the Lane, the Classy Castleford Tigers side were in full flow, as Leigh were put to the sword, 42 - 12 #COYF
On this day, back in 1994, Widnes were visitors down the Lane, a formidable Castleford Tigers side, who finished 3rd in the table that season, beat Widnes 26 - 6!
5th Dec 1982, speedy Cas winger Terry Richardson Terry Richardson clocked up 100 tries for his home town club Castleford Tigers in a John Player tie v Wigan. He actually hit 100 first class tries v Hull FC in Sept1982 (as the newspaper clipping), having scored a further 3 tries for Yorkshire.
Keith Hepworth made debut at Huddersfield April '59 was a huge part of Castleford Tigers success in 60’s. Played 329 games/66 tries for Cas, Cup winner Wembley '69 & '70 Final Cas game v Hudds, Oct71. 11 GB caps, played all 3 tests Ashes v Australia 1970 last time GB won Ashes RIP Heppy

On this day in 1969 Castleford Tigers began a cup campaign that would see a return to Wembley after a gap of over 30 years. Cas were drawn away for 12th consecutive time & missing such as Alan Hardisty, Bill Bryant & Johnny Ward, but came away with a hard fought 19 - 7 victory over Hunslet
On this day, when Castleford Tigers begin their 2025 cup campaign, Cas began a campaign that would see them return to Wembley for the first time in 16 years, coming away with a classy 60 - 6, 1st round victory at Hunslet, Gary French scoring 5 tries to equal the club try scoring record!
On the run to Wembley, back on this day in 1969, Castleford Tigers beat Wigan in the Challenge Cup 2nd round, the great Johnny Ward was sent off, along with Brian Hogan (the guy who broke Mal Reilly's jaw, whilst playing for Oldham at Cas a few years later).

On this day 90 years ago, Castleford Tigers led by the legendary Arthur Atkinson, beat Huddersfield Giants 🐮🔔 11–8 in the final at Wembley. This was Castleford's first Challenge Cup final win in their first final appearance, and much fancied Huddersfield's first defeat in six final appearances.
On this day back in 2003 Castleford Tigers made the trip to Warrington Wolves and came away with a great 32 - 16 victory! A Cas win over the Rhinos today would be equally appreciated! #COYF
