Another great The Enterprise Forum event with @KwasiKwarteng. A really interesting discussion was had on a range of topics from productivity, to skills, to net zero to supply chain challenges. The Minister seemed up-beat and keen to engage.

This report from House of Lords Built Environment Committee is worth a read. Picks up on one of the key points from our submission— if we are to build 300k homes a year we need the skills to deliver. Currently 77% of roofing contractors are finding it difficult to recruit—and that’s at current build rates.

Does anyone have any further details on the “Building Industry Scheme” included in the Building Safety Bill amendments? No mention of it in the press release?

I worked for Sir David between 2013-2015 and in that time we repeatedly asked the department for a review of Approved Document B and for the lessons of Lakanal House to be learnt but we were consistently ignored. I’m glad this is now all coming to light.
