Typical of many UK towns, visiting parents in Sutton Coldfield reminds me how poor provision is for pedestrians. They've even put up a sign admitting how poor it is. Treating town centres as 'retail areas' encircled with a ring road exacerbates the problem of economic vitality.

Tooting High St: Interesting to ponder why it's a much more vibrant high street than #Streatham. Why? Having 2 indoor markets? Northern line enabling higher income households to live nearby? Contribution of diverse migrant community? Answers on a postcard...
