I’m bringing out the Easter themed games this week! Today we played Easter egg tag. Students had to bring their Easter egg to there Easter basket without getting tagged by the Easter bunny. If they got tagged they had to do 5 jumping jacks! 🐰 KCA

Since it is the last day before Easter weekend we played Easter egg hunt relay. There were 60 eggs hid under the cones. One at a time the students went and picked up one cone to see if there were eggs under it. If there was, they’d bring them back! 🐣🐰KCA

We started gymnastics this week! We started with some individual balances and learning various 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 point balances. We used the Balance It app for some visuals as well. Next up, partner balances! KCA

We worked on some 2 person balances today! The students love these and are always super pumped to do them. I even got partners to come up with their own balance and they were super creative! KCA

We tried out some of the 5 person balances for the Balance It app! My students were super excited when they stuck the balance! We also learned how to adapt some balances to make them a bit easier! KCA

I always like to end my gymnastics unit with stations so students can bring together all the skills we’ve learned. It’s always a fan favourite!! KCA

We have now transferred from gymnastics to jump rope to get us ready for Jump Rope for Heart. To warm up we played noodle jump tag. If you got tagged you had to stand like a star. To get untagged you have to jump over a long noodle two times. KCA

We’ve been learning lots of jump rope skills with our rope laying on the floor. We’ve done side to side, backwards and forwards, various jumping patterns, one foot, jumps and spins etc. We learned we can use our jump rope for other ways of jumping! KCA

We have finished up jump rope (for the most part). Students really enjoyed using jump rope ninja. I love how it introduces goal setting even with my littlest students! Near the end I had students doing long rope skills and partner skills! KCA

Last year for my dance unit I did the Cotton Eye Joe line dance and some of my classes insisted on doing it again this year, so we did! They killed it!! KCA

Dance is a unit that can sometimes be a struggle to get everyone involved in. I try to include ways to try and hook students, this year I found a few appropriate TikTok dances. This one was the green green grass Tiktok dance and the students were pumped to do it! KCA

We played submarine tag today to work on some throwing and aiming at a target. 4 students have dodgeballs (cannonballs) and try to hit submarines (students) down. If tagged, students lay on the ground with a foot in the air. Someone pushes foot down to untag. KCA
